THE DRESSAGE ARENA

The official dressage arena is 60m x 20m, with letters to designate particular points where certain actions are to occur. The main judge is at letter C, and the competitor always enters at A.

Arena Protocol

• Safety is paramount and collisions should be avoided – always be aware of what is going on around you.

• Riders should pass left shoulder to left shoulder on the track.

• The more progressive gait has priority on the track.

• Lateral work has priority over all paces.

• Trot and canter have priority over walk.

• Halt should not be on the track.

• When circling, anticipate your return so as not to stop the flow of other riders.

• Mounting, dismounting & gear adjustment should be off the track.

• Don’t insist on your right of way if the other rider is not aware of the situation.
